Kotak ‘Do It Yourself’ tersedia dengan harga sekitar $200.

Jadi, tunggu apa lagi? Mulailah sekarang!

Who will bring light and electricity to Africa?

Since 2009, demand for solar-powered lights in Africa has experienced an annual growth of 90%. Nearly 4 million lights have been sold, a number which at first glance seems impressive, and yet only represents 3% of the current market. 3%!

In 2009, scientists scrambled to come up with a low-cost, quality light to help modernize the developing world. In 2013, more than 40 companies have patents on products that meet the rigorous standards set forth by Lighting Africa, a joint IFC and World Bank program that strives to provide previously disconnected areas with reliable access to electricity. For these 40+ companies, the biggest hurdle they currently have to overcome is a lack of working capital. They need more money to produce and export enough lights to meet soaring demand. But the options available for filling their capital requirements are less than ideal. Companies can either try to raise their debt level from an investor or bank, or lean on their equity reserves, which can easily result in bankruptcy.

In 2011, the World Health Organization partnered with the OPEC Fund for International Development to help extend credit to companies struggling with working capital. The result was a wave of sales – hundreds of thousands of solar-powered lights were introduced to Africa. But as the market expands, demand inevitably rises. If a system of sound investing in manufacturers of innovative, quality products isn’t put in place, it will be nearly impossible for Africa’s economy to sustain itself. Instead, it will be victimized by “bubbles” and “bursts.”

As most people know, solar technology has its drawbacks. Panels have a limited capability and storage capacity due to their photovoltaic cells.  They’re bulky, too. They don’t work at night. Or in the rain. And worst of all – they’re expensive!

Why rely on solar-powered lights when cheap filament light bulbs, powered by a grid, have been a staple of the first world since Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla back in the 19th Century?

NRGLab is actively seeking partners and investors to help grow enough working capital to manufacture the SH-box, a portable generator capable of providing power to every corner of Africa, or any other developing country in need of electricity. The zero-emission SH-box may prove to be the piece that stabilizes the African economy; producing electricity for as little as $0.03 per kWh allows for capital to be invested elsewhere, like in grid expansion and social welfare.

Visit nrglab.asia for updates on upcoming SH-box auctions, or to learn more about how partnering with NRGLab may just be the soundest investment and smartest decision you’ve ever made.

Save Your Money

Today, there is a lot of talking about financial and economic crisis. A lot has been written about the reasons that forced International Monetary Fund, (IMF) and European Union (EU) to carry out a confiscatory reform in Cyprus. Some of the issues in this reform are critically important. One of the main questions is: who initiated such a reform?

The European Union is one of the organizations functioning according to regulations defined by the Bretton Woods agreement of 1944. EU is one of the most powerful organizations in the world; however, it is not authorized to change the existing legislation. Especially when this legislation deals with the “sacred right” to private property. In spite of the fact that property rights are being breached left and right, there are always “legitimate” excuses to why these violations are exceptions to the rules. An example of such violation can be confiscation of funds that are not convenient to the “powerful of the world”. It is very likely that IMF was involved in the Cyprus story; otherwise, EU would not have made such scandalous moves.

Let’s look further. Why did IMF allow such a gross violation of its own fundamental rules? The answer is simple: this kind of step makes sense only if all attempts to save the current bank system are futile. Assets of the current bank system are devalued, while liabilities are fully intact. In other words, it is impossible to return funds to clients, so the only question that matters is how to write off all the expenses. If this is true, Cyprus might as well be a “pilot project” – carried out to see what the reaction would be and how strong the resistance might appear.

It is very possible such confiscatory reforms might be repeated in other countries as well. However, Anglo-Saxon countries, which are closer to the financial center of the world, are more open and free. New Zealand and Canada, for instance, are openly talking in their budget discussions about the possibility to bail out problematic banks at depositors’ expense.  So no one should have any illusions about safety of their bank deposits (now that the confiscatory reform becomes an integral part of the economic crisis).

After the mortgage and the financial crises, we are witnessing the economic crisis. Many experts start to understand that this crisis will be absolutely global. Please note that the problems we had before had not disappeared. The mortgage and the financial crises still exist; they just became a part of the bigger economic crisis. Just like this economic crisis will very soon become a part of the world culture crisis.

Who can influence the way this world culture crisis develops? The leaders of this culture can. We think that everyone needs to contribute in order to help those suffered from the world culture crisis. We have developed a program to visit countries of South-East Asia to talk to people face to face. We hope for productive collaboration and partnership. Unfortunately, we cannot influence the global crisis of the world culture, and our abilities to affect long-term development of the world culture are limited; however, we will strive to work productively. We will offer specific solutions, which will allow people to be a part of our community. We are together in this and we will win!

The Bank Crisis in Cyprus is Only the Beginning

With their banking system in shambles, the country of Cyprus proposed actions Wednesday that would secure the funds necessary to qualify for a bailout. How much is ‘necessary’ you ask? Oh, only €5.8 billion!

The proposition called for the nationalization of state-operated employee pensions as well as an emergency bond auction to help raise the €5.8 billion. This comes only a day after their Parliament rejected a similar bailout package calling for €10 billion. Money would also come from a divisive bank tax, which would hit all deposits of up to €100,000 with a 2% fee. Gone are the days of free and/or affordable banking in Cyprus. Deposits above the 100k threshold would be taxed a whopping 5%!

Meanwhile, the country’s finance minister traveled to Moscow to plead his case for additional economic relief. The Cyprioti banks are suffering as a result of past entanglements in Greece’s economic catastrophe. Since many of Russia’s wealthiest socialites possess accounts in Cyprus, you know they’ll be keeping a watchful eye on the situation as it continues to deteriorate.

In an effort to protect Cyprus from the international financial sharks that are starting to swarm the waters, the government has declared all bank branches closed until next Tuesday. All accounts have been frozen. What does this mean? It means people don’t have access to their money! It means they can’t pay their bills. They’ll default on loans, knocking over the first domino in the collapse of the European economy. (The rest of the world soon to follow)

Government officials have ordered ATM machines to remain operational and fully-stocked for those who still pay their bills via cash and courier mail. For the thousands of international corporations that already have accounts in Cyprus, this doesn’t help as much. The financial freeze means they can’t transfer money in between accounts, i.e. they can’t do business! And when corporations can’t do business, their stock price drops. When their stock price drops, rounds of employment cuts follow. When unemployment rises, further strain is put on the economy. When will it snap? How many people will be forced out of their jobs and into lines at the ATM before someone does something about it?

The Cyprioti government hopes to agree to terms with the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Commission on a relief plan by the re-opening of their banks on Tuesday. If the country fails to secure the bailout, “the damage would be enormous, and (they) would be at risk of collapse,” an undisclosed European official told the New York Times. Cyprus may even consider leaving the euro currency base altogether. According to that same official, the move would “spur chaos.”

As countries hop from economic crisis to economic crisis, perhaps it’s time we rethought the system entirely. Instead of investing in gold and silver, perhaps clean-energy represents the future of a reliable, interdependent, globalized economy. Energy will always be in demand. If a capable, renewable source were introduced to the market, imagine the investment potential. Imagine the cultural potential.
